Premera Social Impact: Packing Birthday Party Kits for Children in Need

Premera is entering a new partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound. This collaboration supports our commitment to address challenges youth face when seeking mental health care. On April 23, more than 40 Premera employees at our Mountlake Terrace gathered to pack birthday party kits for children in need.

This partnership is part of a larger affiliation led by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association. Blues plans across the country partner with individual clubs. Together, the Blues plans have committed $10 million to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The commitment supports a trauma-informed approach to treating mental health in youth.

Investing in trauma-informed care programs is an important part of many Premera Social Impact grants. The Boys & Girls Club knows this approach helps youth to heal, build resilience, and navigate emotional challenges.

Not all families have the means to celebrate birthdays. The party kits will help the Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound address that gap by sending kids home with kits that include essentials for a festive birthday celebration.
