Premera Recognizes All-Star Educators

October 2, 2025

Premera Blue Cross and the Seattle Storm honored five school workers at a back-to-school game. This was part of the new Premera All-Stars program. People nominated school staff in Washington who make a difference every day. Each educator got a Storm jersey and $1,000 for their school.

Why It Matters

Premera and the Storm celebrate school workers who help students in Washington. It’s about honoring the people who uplift and build strong communities.

“This year’s lineup of all-star educators reflects the depth of talent in our schools, including a teacher, coach, counselor, special education instructional assistant, and behavioral health specialist,” said Eric Trott, vice president of marketing and communications at Premera. “Their dedication reminds us that every role matters, and every student deserves a champion.”

From Detention to Growth

One example is Brandin Chapman, who runs the detention room at Kamiak High School. Chapman uses her mental health skills to turn detention into a place where students feel supported. She noticed unfair rules and is working to fix them.

“Brandin goes above and beyond to connect with the most challenging students assigned to her resource room,” said one nominator. “She talks with the students, works with them on homework, and ensures they don’t have to return to her room.”

Where Sports Meet Support

At Glacier Middle School, Priscilla Ponce saw many kids wanted to play volleyball. So, she started a clinic where they could play and learn teamwork.

“Ponce came up with a volleyball clinic that also centered social and emotional skills as a way to involve the students’ interests,” one nominator said. “The clinic had a huge turnout and many students built connections and worked on their social and emotional skills while strengthening their sportsmanship.”
