Premera Blue Cross Moves to Electronic Credentialing Applications

We’re excited to announce a change that will streamline the credentialing process for all providers contracted with Premera Blue Cross. Starting March 1, 2025, Premera will transition to electronic applications for credentialing and re-credentialing. This move is aimed at making the process faster and more efficient for our providers.

What You Need to Know

  • Electronic applications: As of March 1, 2025, all credentialing and recredentialing practitioner applications must be submitted electronically through the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) . Paper applications will no longer be accepted.
  • CAQH as our vendor: CAQH has been chosen as the vendor for this process. Providers will need to submit their applications through CAQH. To ensure a smooth transition, please make sure you have identified Premera Blue Cross as a health plan that can access your application on CAQH. If you haven’t granted access, Premera won’t be able to retrieve and process your application.
  • Sign-in information: Providers can sign in to CAQH at www.caqh.org. Our provider website will be updated in 2025 so you can submit your CAQH ID for credentialing applications.

Submitting your application electronically will significantly reduce the time it takes to process your application. This streamlined approach will also reduce the administrative hassle of submitting paper applications to multiple health plans.
