Premera Blue Cross HMO 101 Webinar Adds New Provider Resources

The Premera Blue Cross HMO team hosted a provider webinar in early December 2023. Attendees had the opportunity to meet HMO leadership, learn key components of the HMO Core Plus plan, and hear about important plan changes for 2024.

Key takeaways from the webinar include:

• Premera HMO uses the Sherwood HMO network of providers in King, Pierce, Thurston, and Spokane counties, with more counties coming this year.
• The HMO webpage has more information and resources available.
• Primary Care Providers should initiate referrals to specialists for additional care. Specialists with approved referrals already on file may also submit secondary referrals for the member to see additional specialists in the Sherwood HMO network.
• Referrals are required for all specialists except those services not included on the Direct Access List.
• Referrals should be submitted through Availity.
