Get Ready for Premera EFT Payment Changes in 2027

November 5, 2026

Starting January 1, 2027, InstaMed will no longer send electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments for claims with dates of service on or after that date. This change is part of the individual market transition.

What to Expect

  • If you’re already enrolled in EFT with Premera Blue Cross, you don’t need to take any action. You’ll automatically receive these payments through Premera EFT.
  • You may still receive InstaMed EFT payments after January 1, 2027, for claims with dates of service before that date.
  • If you’re not enrolled in Premera EFT, enroll before January 1, 2027, to avoid interruptions in electronic payments.
  • Premera EFT sends payments based on the tax identification number (TIN) used to bill for services.
  • Payments will go to the same bank account you use for non-individual member payments.

How to Enroll

Use the transaction enrollment tool in Availity Essentials to enroll, update your bank account, or cancel EFT. Premera will process your request after you submit it.

  1. Sign in to Availity Essentials.
  2. Select My Provider from the top menu.
  3. Select Enrollments Center, then Transaction Enrollment.
  4. Select Premera and Affiliates health plan payer.
  5. Follow the instructions to enroll, update, or cancel EFT.

Keep in Mind

  • Need to change your bank account number? Cancel your current EFT enrollment first. Then submit a new enrollment request.
  • Starting in January 2027, provider payment administration will move from Bank of America to PNC Bank. You’ll continue to receive EFT payments, but your payment reference and check numbers will change.
  • If you’re not enrolled in Premera EFT, you’ll receive payments by virtual payment card or paper check. You’ll have another opportunity to enroll in 2027.
