A New Prior Authorization Experience is Coming

Prior authorizations in Availity Essentials will soon have a new look and flow on November 14. While the experience will look different, you’ll submit much of the same information you do today.

Why it Matters

The update provides a refreshed experience and supports future enhancements. You’ll see changes to the layout, navigation, and steps for requesting prior authorization.

What to Expect

How you access medical policies will temporarily change in Availity Essentials.

• You’ll see the medical policy URL in Availity Essentials, but it won’t be a clickable link. This temporary change addresses security considerations and protects connected systems.
• To view a policy, copy and paste the link into a new browser tab or window.
• More enhancements are planned, with the goal of restoring features such as direct links to policies and vendor resources.

What You Need to Do

Continue submitting prior authorization requests through Availity Essentials as you do today. When you need to view a medical policy, copy and paste the displayed URL into your browser.
