Use Availity to Reduce Claims Attachment Mailing Costs

Through Availity Essentials, Premera accepts attachments to support processing a claim in a pending or finalized status. If an attachment is needed to support a claim, the denial reason code or claims status description will indicate what’s needed for the attachments.

If you receive a request from Premera for additional information, use the claim attachment feature in Availity to submit the information to us. Using this feature helps you track all the attachments you send Premera through the Availity Attachments Dashboard.

Note that this new feature doesn’t support requests for additional information from our vendors.

If you send a claim attachment to Premera for a service supported by a vendor, such as Carelon or Evolent, we won’t be able to process additional information. To prevent a delay in processing your claim, make sure you send additional information to the correct vendor when applicable.
