Availity Updates: Two-Factor Authentication and New URL
Please note two important Availity Essentials updates for secure sign in and URL.
New 2-factor authenticator app
Starting August 12, 2025, SMS text and voice-based 2-step authentication methods will no longer be supported when signing in to Availity Essentials™.
Availity is changing to an authenticator app to reduce security risks associated with SMS and voice-based authentication methods, which are more vulnerable to fraud and delivery issues.
What you need to do
Visit the Availity 2-Step Support and Information Hub for:
- Instructions on how to change from your current 2-step authentication method to an authenticator app.
- FAQ for answers to common questions about this change.
- Training demo of the update process.
We encourage you to share this update with users in your organization to support a smooth transition.
URL Change for Availity Secure Site
Availity is changing its sign-in URL on August 7. If you use the former URL (app.availity.com) you’ll be automatically rerouted to the new URL (essentials.availity.com). The former URL will be retired. This should ensure a seamless user experience through the new sign-in regardless of which URL is used.
What you need to do
- Update hyperlinks in documents and websites
- Update any technology that relies on URLs
- Update personal bookmarks
Currently, Availity has no plans to turn off the URL redirect.
