New Bariatric Surgery Benefits for the Federal Employee Program (FEP)

Starting in 2024, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) Federal Employee Program (FEP) established a new medical policy for bariatric surgery (FEP 7.01.47 bariatric surgery). This marks a departure from the previous coverage structure outlined in the member service benefit plan brochure. One key highlight of the new policy is the expansion of eligibility to adolescents.
